This website is primarily an archive regarding my own work as a visual editor and as a fashion designer, but more important the work of the very talented students I've been privileged to work with during the last 30 years.
After graduating in 1985 from the department Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem, nowadays known as ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, I started the label illustrious Imps in collaboration with co-designer Karel Bakker, and from 1988 on with Amber Jansen as third designer. In 1990 this team split up and I solely continued with Imps pour homme which lasted until 1992.
From 1985 on I simultaneously started as a design teacher, initially at the Amsterdam’ Fashion Academy Vogue, and in 1986 followed by a position at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kampen. In 1987 I started in Arnhem, the institute I was educated myself; first as a design teacher and from 2006 on as head of the department. From 1993 until 2006 I was principal teacher fashion design at the ABKM, the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht.
Next to my career as a professional design teacher I occasionally worked as a visual editor, first in 1998 for Haute Culture, a publication by the Dutch Gas Union, and in 2003/2004 for Academy Arnhem 50 Years in Fashion, a publication by ArtEZ Institute of the Arts.
Nowadays my career solely concentrates on educating fashion design, both as a design teacher and as head of a department of approximately 125 students and 20 specialized teachers.
