The label illustrious Imps was founded in 1985, initially in collaboration with co-designer Karel Bakker, and from 1988 on Amber Jansen joined the design team.
The collections included both womenswear and menswear, and were presented at the British Designer Show in London, and the Sehm – Nouvel Espace, and Atmosphere – Samaritaine, both in Paris. Simultaneously illustrious Imps was part of the GILL-group who jointly showed their collections in both Amsterdam in e.g. Roxy, Museum Fodor, and Artemis, and in Paris in the Institut Néerlandais.
The illustrious Imps collections were sold in exclusive shops in Great Britain, the United States, Japan, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
The label stopped in 1990.
